I must say I don’t get it. To me, Pål’s songs on True North are among the most exciting from a-ha since their 1993. “Hunter In the Hills”, “Bumblebee” and “Oh My Word”… You simply don’t find pop music like this anywhere else, and it’s really songs like those that have pushed a-ha in a new direction. And you can count “As If” with some of the most interesting lyrical images and “Make Me Understand” and “Forest For the Trees” that are better than what anyone should even dare to ask of a band that has released songs for almost 40 years.
To me, Magne’s songs on True North are so-so, even bordering on boring, with Summer Rain as the main exception, but what Pål has delivered is above and beyond what I could ever have dared to hope. -
Exactly, Peter!

We all have our favourite songs and albums! I understand and respect your opinion.
Personally, I prefer Magne's songs to Pal's on the True North album.
Summer Rain is my favourite.
How do you explain the fact that what was supposed to be a new album, on several tracks, you get the impression - and it's not just an impression - that you've heard them before in the band's discography. Is this normal? When I buy an album it's to listen to new songs!I'm not sayinh that one member is more talented than the other or writes better than the other, but simply that the songwriting isn't what it used to be.
It was brilliant because they wrote together.Album and single sales statistics and the reality of the band's life in the documentary a-ha the movie prove it.
It sometimes happens when you've been a fan of a band since the beginning of their career that one day an album turns you off because it doesn't live up to your expectations.A friend of mine who's been a Madonna fan for a long time hated her last album and he still doesn't understand how it's possible.that's how life is, it's not the end of the world but still....
