I have a lot of a-ha VHS tapes, from their early days right up to their comeback in 2000 – TV appearances, interviews and so on. I’d like to transfer all my VHS tapes to DVD. But how do I go about it? Has anyone else tried this before, perhaps? Thanks for your help!![]()

I used the HAUPPAUGE USB-Live2 01341 USB grabber. You need a halfway decent computer though and VirtualDub, OBS or the software Hauppauge Capture and set it up properly. Then you need a VCR with 4 heads to have STEREO playback and a S-Video cable for a better quality capture. The problem is though that often the digitized footage needs to be corrected and stabilized and personally I haven't figured out how to do that myself.
The problem is that there are so many bad grabbers out there with old software or fragility of VCRs when not used for a longer time. So many things can go wrong it's unbelievable. This is a video about the main problem with these grabbers:
$15 TVBox USB video capture device - Junk or gem?Despite negative reviews when it was new in 2006, the TVBox provides high-quality video capture at a bargain price... as long as any analog videotape sources...www.youtube.com
Maybe other a-ha fellows know more about this stuff and can help but if not I hope I can help at least "a little bit" (no pun intended, lol) -
Thanks for the information!

Hi Angelo!
Years ago, I bought a Panasonic DVD recorder with a hard drive. I connected the video recorder to the DVD player with a SCART cable, then transferred the VHS tape to the recorder, and from there to the DVD player. For me, as a complete non-techie, it was the simplest solution, but certainly not the cheapest or fastest...

Thank you! I’d just like to be able to watch the videos on DVD .I'm looking for the easiest solution, as I don't know the first thing in the audiovisual sector.
