COLD COLLABORATION
- Furuholmen and Molvfr to perform in frozen waterfall
By Cecilie Asker. (Translation by Jakob)
Magne Furuholmen and Nils Petter Molvfr will perform
on stage together for the first time tonight.
The popstar from a-ha and the trumpeter have been
given a warm welcome as collaborators, despite the
fact that they`ll be playing in a frozen waterfall in
Lillehammer. And the collaboration has already whet
their appetites. Now they`re also going to play on
each other`s new albums.
"When I was asked to make a specially ordered
composition for the "Winter Arts Festival", it felt
natural to include Nils Petter. He is after all one of
the best musicians we`ve got [in this country]", Magne
Furuholmen says.
In connection with the annual Winter Arts Festival in
Lillehammer, which this year coincides with the
10-year anniversary of the Olympic games, the two
musicians have made a musical composition called
"Meltdown". The concert will be held in a frozen
waterfall in the river Mesna.
"Initially, our music may seem very different, but
when two such musical expressions are forced together,
some magic music can come out of it. That`s what we`re
hoping will happen tonight", Molvfr says.
Both of them are currently working on several
different projects. Molvfr is working on his next
album, in addition to composing film music. Furuholmen
is also in studio, working on his first solo-album,
and he`s also opening a new exhibition at Lillehammer
Art Museum tomorrow. And now they`ll appear on each
other`s albums.
"Nils Petter is a kind of guy who enriches any project
with his uniqueness, that`s why I really wanted to
have him contributing on my solo-album", Magne says.
"And Magne might also appear on my next album", Nils
Petter adds.
And Furuholmen makes things clear when mentioning
a-ha:
"a-ha is a project that we all want to enter into with
a will. But right now, all three of us are busy with
other things, and we`re happy with that", he ends.
