SAVOY | Digital River | Single-Release |VÖ 25.08.2023

    Gerade kam die Nachricht, dass der Song "Digital River" die neue SAVOY Single werden wird. Die Veröffentlichung ist für Ende August geplant. A-ha- ja genau da war doch was, der Song wurde während der 2019/2020 Konzerte der "HHAL"-Tour live gespielt.

    Great news! What a lack of creativity this is really impressive, is he going to sing with his real voice or imitate with the help of the technical (production) Morten's voice like he did with the very bad lonely surfer?

    Lonely Surfer was - in my opinion - a great song. Digital River in a-ha’s version is in my view among the most disappointing of their career (as anyone who has listened to our a-ha podcast “a-ha: Ranking Highs and Lows” will know) but of course suffered from the fact that it was a shaky live performance. I’m certain that the studio treatment will have done wonders to it although I’m still not convinced about the lyrics.

    It's always interesting to see the different opinions of fans and obviously everyone has their own.. Personally I loved Digital River performed live during the Hunting Hugh and Low Tour. Like many other fans, I wanted the song to be reworked in studio and realised as a single by the band A-HA!! :thumbsup: During the pandemic (covid 19)!. I have no interest for SAVOY band! :(

    Wow, this is in my view possibly the weakest Savoy song since Barefoot in a Denim Jacket!! I didn’t have high hopes since I never liked the a-ha version on the tour but I had hoped that it would be improved on in a studio setting. Normally I actually have a certain fondness for Lauren’s voice but this time it’s drowned in cheap-sounding effects - and the melody remains unelegant, the lyrics sub-par, and the whole production just too… pale.


    I loved Lonely Surfer and I’m a huge fan of Savoy/Pål but this one just doesn’t do it for me.

    Irgendwie gefallen mir die Gesangspart und die genutzten Effekten auch nicht sehr, von daher Zustimmung. Der Song an sich kann sich nach mehrmaligen Hören doch festsetzen, mehr als ich am Anfang gedacht hatte.

    Als Programmierer für den Song werden 4 Personen aufgezählt.

    Mir hat das Lied schon live sehr gut gefallen!

    Auch diese Version hat was, nur hätten sie auf Laurens Stimme im Vordergrund verzichten sollen.

    Das hätte Paul viel besser hinbekommen.

    Also den rein musikalischen Teil mag ich sehr. Der Song hat noch mehr wumms bekommen und ich mag auch das Intro. Schön, dass er nicht auf bekannten Pfaden bleibt sondern sich auch an neues wagt. Aber der Gesang…. Aiaiaiai. Das ist nix. Ich vermute, der Song wurde für Mortens Stimme geschrieben. So hoch kommt Paul nicht. Also musste seine Frau und irgend welche Effekte ran. In meinen Ohren ist das aber eher nach hinten losgegangen.

    Aber vielleicht würde ich nicht so hart urteilen, wenn ich den Song nicht schon mit besserem Gesang gehört hätte.
