Preview of "Make Some Noise"
Amnesty International has managed to get 50 top artists to make cover versions of John Lennon songs, to benefit the Darfur-region in Sudan. On Monday you can hear a preview of the new album.
The human rights organization Amnesty International has invited to a listening preview of the new album, where 50 top artists from Norway and abroad have interpreted Lennon songs.
It is in co-operation with the record company Warner Music that Amnesty has made the album project happen. On Monday they will be celebrating the project with a guitar parade and a peace message from the bed. The happening takes place at the Hard Rock Cafe in Oslo.
The background for the album is that Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has given Amnesty all the recording rights to Lennon's solo catalogue.
Among the artists contributing are a-ha, U2, R.E.M., The Cure, Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera.
In addition to a-ha, two other big Norwegian artists have contributed to the project, and they will be announced from the stage at the Hard Rock Cafe on Monday. One of the artists will also be performing live, the organizers promise.
- We hope that John Lennon's music will open a few doors, so that even more people will join us in the fight for human rights, says John Peder Egenæs, the secretary-general of Amnesty Norway.
The album will be available in the shops from June 25th, and as a download from June 11th.
