Morten Harket sings at Vågen
Point of Peace has hired Morten Harket for a role in the performance "Songs Across Walls of Separation".
Harket will appear as a performer who does western interpretations of both lyrics and music from the Moroccan, Palestinian and Mexican songs in the performance.
"Morten Harket has a personal commitment that's important for the expression and power of the performance", artistic director Erik Hillestad tells Stavanger Aftenblad.
"Songs Across Walls of Separation" will be played on September 12th. Using Vågen (the harbour) as a stage, various human stories will be told that have been created by walls of separation between the rich and poor parts of the world.

Songs Across Walls of Separation
The performance named ”Songs Across Walls of Separation” is about children, and children's rights.
Using the Vågen harbour as stage and backdrop, the story is told of how we turn a blind eye to the plight of refugees and of the walls that separate the rich world from the poor. The performance involves professional actors, singers, rock bands, orchestras, children's choir and amateur theatre groups.
The story is told on two levels. We hear about Norway of the 1850s as an exporter of emigrants, and Norway today as receiving country for people seeking a better life.
We also get a peek into the destiny of people from different countries. ”Songs Across Walls of Separation” focuses on what we can do about today's challenging global situation, as a part of the project "Point of Peace".
The artistic directors behind this performance are Erik Hillestad and Nina Wester.
