Hi all
In the latest edition of "Musikkpraksis" ( http://www.musikkweb.no/
mag.php ), a Norwegian magazine about music production and equipment,
there is a six-page interview with Savoy (Lauren and Paul - they are
also on the cover). Sadly I don't have enough time to translate the
entire thing, but I wanted to mention something Paul says about the
next a-ha album.
Roughly translated:
----
"A new a-ha experience"
Now that a new Savoy album is done and ready for release, Paul has
started working on the new a-ha album.
P: - I think we will try to get back to the computer and synth sound
again, and recapture that space.
L: - That would make me really happy! That would be really fun and
refreshing.
P: - It's still rewarding to get your music out to that many people.
To tour is great fun, and I think we can reach new heights with the
right album.
...
What kind of songs go to a-ha and what kind to go Savoy?
P: - That depends on my mood. There have been times when I have given
a-ha songs I knew weren't right for them.
L: - But that wasn't on purpose?
P: - Yes, sometimes it was on purpose, because I think it's good for
the band to something thats unusual to us. A challenge, maybe. I
have definitely made songs that didn't show off Mortens voice. But
you get back to things, you know. Things you fall in love with, and
then starts to bore you, before you return to it. Right now I'm
trying to write songs that hit that magic note in Mortens voice, so
that he'll get something to work on.
....
And finally; Magne has his art, Morten has his social causes, Lauren
can direct films, what's your alternative outlet Paul?
P: - "Winter wants me empty".
